FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is "vintage"?
Vintage can mean many different things to many people. At Lobster Bisque Vintage, "vintage" means anything produced twenty years ago or more.
What is the difference between the vintage and discontinued Breyer sections?
The vintage section includes all models made more than twenty years ago, while discontinued means that they are no longer in production but were made less than twenty years ago. All vintage Breyers are discontinued, but not all discontinued Breyers are vintage. Each model will have a date or range of production so you can be sure you know the time periods.
What do the scales mean on the model horses?
Breyer horses come in several different sizes. The most common scales I stock are Traditional (roughly 1:9 scale), Classic (1:12 scale), Little Bits/Paddock Pals (1:24 scale), and Stablemates (1:32 scale). These scales mean that every 1" of model equals about 9", 12", 24", or 32" on a real horse. Each model will have the scale listed, and some models also have the actual size.
I'm not good with scales. About how big are each of the sizes?
Traditional size Breyer horses are about 9" tall, Classic size are about 6", Little Bits/Paddock Pals are about 5" tall and Stablemates are palm-sized at about 3" tall.
Do Breyer horses come with boxes?
No items come with boxes unless otherwise stated. These are vintage and older models and most were taken out of the boxes upon their original purchase years ago.
Are the photos of the actual models?
Yes. All photos of model horses and animals, and all vintage item photos are the actual item you will receive. New accessories (1:9 scale category) may use batch photos.
I am looking for a favorite Breyer horse I had as a child, but I don't know what it was. Can you help me?
